WEAVING WONDERS

Broughton Astley is planning to make a steel sculpture to place at its entrance. Children participating in the Broughton Alive project at Thomas Estley Community College will help design this sculpture.

The designs were made by willow weaving but the final sculpture will be made out of steel. It is hoped to last for years to come.

The children got their designs from work they did with professional willow weaver Tom Hare. Not all of the sculptures made were willow. Just by posing in front of the camera the children made their own sculptures which were later used to make willow sculptures from the negative spaces from the picture.

To finish off the children made an exhibition for their families and friends to see. They all enjoyed the Broughton Alive project and they can't wait to take part again!
